Dead End Ahead

Wake up look around what do you see?
A new day is dawning something has happened to our family.
Daddy is off to work, working for what it's worth, gonna work
overtime. Home, again, Mamma waits regarding her wedding cake, keep it in line.

American family dead end don't have to be dead end ahead
Straight dead ahead there's a dead end ahead going straight dead
ahead

Meanwhile, back at the ranch me and the brat go stark raving mad.
Mother and Dad forget what we had forcing new family ties. Asking:
what did we do? did we argue too much/ was it really so tough?
do they hate us that much?
There's a dead end ahead our little family's dead
                                                                                  wave it bye-bye

American family dead end ahead
driving cruise control drive
Dead end ahead no right turning on red
keeping straight dead ahead

Well now, mother and Dad, it's really quite sad making me mad
It seems to be that a divorce decree will be handed to Dad
Now, Mother is strange, feelings have changed, we live on our own
But for a weekend Dad and the carnivals had we live all alone
American family stranger than fantasies no broken homes
American family dead end don't have to be at home all alone

American families...dead end don't have to be straight dead ahead!
